In my internship I’ll be designing accessories and clothes. The reason why I chose this internship was because since I was 14 years old I always liked to make my own clothes design. I always thought of making a big design that will become famous one day and everyone will be wearing it or talking about. The reason why I like it so much is because my mother always travels and I love to travel and see the styles in other countries, I’ll be traveling a lot to see the style for the next year or see what people use around other countries. And my mother has been designing since she was 12 years old with her mother. She’s really good at it and I thought it would be great for me to learn from her because she has patience to teach and it’s something she loves doing. My mother and I have been thinking of opening a store together in Brazil I’ll be managing the store there and she’s going to stay in the United States and open another one. It’s cheaper and easier for both of us for me to stay there in at least three times a month and come back and bring things for the store then shipping. I’ll be doing my own design accessories and clothing at the store and she’ll do her’s at her store.

I’m going to be working with my mother and a little with my father he helps her around sometimes by organizing things around. In the beginning am going to start working at home because I don’t have a lot of experience yet to be doing what she does. Later when I graduate and finish my internship am going to be doing a lot of designing and learning how to manage a store. Then when I learn how to do those things and show my parents I have enough responsibility to live by myself basically with my brothers in Brazil I’ll move to Brazil and open a store. My mother and I will have partnership with the stores. The reason why I want to open the store and stay in Brazil because my brothers live there they can help me around when ever I need them. And I’ll let my mom know the style of the year in Brazil and buy clothes, and accessories there and bring it over here so the other people can stay with the same style that people use in Brazil. Brazilian always want to stay with the style from Brazil instead of the style we use here.

My schedule for my internship will be from Monday-Friday 12-8 because I work Saturday and Sundays. I hope to learn responsibility, manage a store without help, design well and I hope to be successful on every design I make, and have a big company and make sure the company will get bigger each day that goes by, and accomplish all my goals.

Reflection Paper:

Mr. Gallagher

When I first stepped inside the English class I really didn’t expect a lot of writing assignments but it improved me a lot on my writing. In the past few years I didn’t have the capacity to write 5 page essays.

One of the shortest essays I did for homework was on the book “The Namesake” .We had to write a page on Gogol and his reaction on Chapter.3, “Some changes that start to happen on chapter.3 starts on page.55 in the middle of the first paragraph. Gogol starts to play with his food while his dad and he are eating dinner at the table. For the past few days Gogol start missing his mother eating with them at the table she’s always locked inside the bedroom because she’s pregnant “He keeps wishing, every evening, that she would emerge from the bedroom and sit between him and his father, filling the air with her sari and cardigan smell.”(p.55). after we did the home work the next morning in class we used it for a do now. We had to pick a quote and say why you picked the quote inside your group after everyone shared their quote we had to share with the class. It took me at least 20minutes to do this home work which it use to take me at least one hour to type a page like that on my junior year because we didn’t had a lot of essays to write in class or for home work.

My Second essay that I thought it was essay but hard at the same time was my “Internship-paper” because it had to be at least a paper but I had to specifically describe everything I was going to do during the past weeks. And I had to give good reason so they can approve my internship which I thought it was a little hard to write a paper and describe so many things. The good thing is that I actually did a good job on it but the only problem was that I didn’t make it to the internship because this year students couldn’t do it at home so my essay didn’t get approved “I’m going to be working with my mother and a little with my father he helps her around sometimes by organizing things around. In the beginning am going to start working at home because I don’t have a lot of experience yet to be doing what she does. Later when I graduate and finish my internship is going to be doing a lot of designing and learning how to manage a store. Then when I learn how to do those things and show my parents I have enough responsibility to live by myself basically with my brothers in Brazil I’ll move to Brazil and open a store.”

The hardest essay I did in my senior year was on “A Dolls House”. The reason why I thought it was the hardest is because I wasn’t use to write a lot like we had to, we had to write 5 page essay by two days. I had a lot of struggle when I got to the third paragraph but what helped me a lot was that we just had to write a argument paper on a character and I picked Nora. We had a video to watch which helped me a lot too because I had more things to talk about when I ran out of words. “The Character I feel sympathetic for is Nora because it’s not her fault she was acting like a child its pretty much the way she was raised with Helmer. For example parents sometimes raise their children like a kid and some treat their children different and grown up. When they grow up the act the way their parents raised them not always but most of the time. Helmer always treated Nora as a kid by calling her names like “squirrel”. And I feel bad for her cause she’s a mother and a grown women acting like one of her kids would act.” After I wrote this essay I was doing very well with my other ones that were assigned because I was getting use to it. My writing was improving a lot after in the beginning I hated but later on I noticed it was helping me finish my senior year and it’s going to be worth in college in the future. My reading good better too because we did a lot of reading in class and we had to revised a lot of work we did which we had a lot of essays to revise.

The biggest essay I did was my research paper and it was the one I liked the most because I got into it and I liked everything we had to do. The artist I did my research on was really interesting and I like his art work so my research on him got really deep. It took me 5 weeks to finish it and I had to work on it every day at least for 10minutes so I can stay on track. I learned a lot about Banksy and his art work he is basically a unknown artist and his artist cost millions of dollars. “Banksy was born in 1975 in Bristol, United Kingdom. He has come in from the cold street to the prosperous warmth of London galleries and auction house.”

DO NOW:

The namesake

Some changes that start to happen on chapter.3 starts on page.55 in the middle of the first paragraph. One day he grows bored of eating without his mother and he pushes the plate forward with his index finger. He doesn’t feel the same eating without his mother and father eating with him what’s pretty much happening his missing his mother and don’t want to do anything anymore. His growing up without his mom and his missing her and I think this kind of weird how his young and he noticed things that is happening around him. Started of with him not eating anymore, then the past few days of school he didn’t go either all he did was still in bed like his mother without appetite, vomiting and having stomach ache.

Gogol doesn’t want to wear the new clothes his mother buys him, he doesn’t want to go to kindergarten anymore his pretty much being his mother “Gogol has been in bed. Just like his mother, listless, without appetite claiming to have a stomach ache, even vomiting one day into his mother’s pink wastepaper basket”. The reason I like this part of chapter.3 is because I thought about the people that basically never met their mother or father and some of them grow up without them. If that’s how they acted when they were little and if they noticed things like Gogol does. The most important reason he doesn’t want to go to school is because people will have to call him a different name and he doesn’t understand why, he likes the name his parents call him “Gogol” he doesn’t want to be called a different name. What basically happen is that they followed the name tradition but backwards. Later on the when his father left the principle walked up to Gogol and asked what he wanted to be called Gogol or Nikhil he picked Gogol because he liked the name his parents called him.

Gogol parents tried to explain to him why he had to be called another name in school and other strangers, they said it was because everyone has too different names but he still didn’t get why he had to be called Nikhil “But they tell him that the new name will be used only by the teachers and children at school.”. I think for his each his a really smart kid for noticing things like that. For his age there’s so many things happening with him. His mother not around as much because she’s pregnant dealing to understand why people have to call him a different name.

This was a homework assigment which we used for a do now the next day in class. We had to share our thoughts and pick a passage that we wrote about. After that we had to underline a passage that we thought it was good and right a paragraph why we liked the passage and explain to the whole class after we talked over our group.

Analysis Paper: Nora Argument Paper

NORA ARGUMENT PAPER

The Character I feel sympathetic for is Nora because it’s not her fault she was acting like a child its pretty much the way she was raised with Helmer. For example parents sometimes raise their children like a kid and some treat their children different and grown up. When they grow up the act the way their parents raised them not always but most of the time. Helmer always treated Nora as a kid by calling her names like “squirrel”. And I feel bad for her cause she’s a mother and a grown women acting like one of her kids would act. But later own she realized what she was going through the way she was acting and the way her husband Helmer treated her. She realized that’s not what she wanted. She noticed that she never liked him the way she thought she did she was just use to him and the names she called her.

But later on the chapter she started to change her mind and attitude. She started realizing things and started acting more grown up. But she still had some problems the way she talked to Helmer and the way she acted but her mind was different. It was changing little by little and wasn’t doing the things she use to do for him. She use to do everything to see him happy and proud of her. But she didn’t care as much as before when she was acting up and doing everything for him even walking on her “ tip-toes” to see him laughing and entertain him.

In the beginning of Act.3 she changed completely what she use to be. She finally acted her age and like a mother she changed everything her attitude the way she acted. She didn’t do the things she was doing for him and got tired and had other things in mind to worry about. Which was the letter that was inside his mail box the letter she faked her fathers signature. She changed first because things got serious around her side. She wondered what would happen when he saw the letter that Krogstad wrote to Helmer. She was already making plans like an adult would do if her and Helmer broke up what would be the consequences she would have to do which was to move out of the house if they break up.

At the end of chapter.3 Nora changed completely and decided to take responsibility for herself. She broke up with Helmer even though what she did was wrong and they argued about it. She noticed that she doesn’t need him around that she was just use to him. She doesn’t need his money he never made her happy. It was always her making him happy and trying everything to go right. She moved out and probably doing her now not depending on him. The only thing she probably will regret is living her kids behind which she will probably see a few days a week.

Research: Banksy Life Story…

Banksy Life Story…

Banksy is an graffiti artist who quit school early in life and started spraying graffiti’s on the streets walls. Banksy was expelled from one of his school and he spent some time in jail (“Banksy.” Par.2). he tried tagging graffiti his first time when he was 14 years old, in the beginning he was a really slow with spraying he started practicing and got better. He has come in from the cold street to the prosperous warmth of London galleries and auction house. The rush began in February when Sotheby’s sold seven of Banksy work in oil, enamel, acrylic, and spray-paint, Bon hams took up the baton by selling “Space girl and Bird” he sold for $288,000 and the Bird for $594,800 (“Laughing all the way…” Par.1). Banksy was born in 1975 in Bristol, United Kingdom. “The one word phenomenon never the less became one of 2006’s most talked about personalities.” That same year he brought his own brand of subversive. (“Banksy.” Par.2). the reason why Banksy quit school was because he father gave him an advice and he decided to follow his advice and quit school when he was 17 years old (Whitelocks. Par.1).His father was detained during the raid in Layton stone. Banksy first graffiti’s images that he sprayed were cartoon images. Banksy’s peculiar but comical figures had become something of a cult phenomenon in London (“Banksy.” Par.3).

One of the conventional exhibitions of his art was held in a warehouse in 2000. In 2005 Banksy tagged at four major museums in New York City including the Museum of Modern Art. Banksy works have appeared in several places outside of England (“Banksy.” Par.6). Banksy always wanted to keep his real identity a mystery. He uses to break into places making graffiti and leavening the place without stealing and thing. He was a robber he just liked doing his thing and leavening the place. In 2006 he did a prank by painting a really big doll in Disney. Most of his graffiti appeared in a bunch of different places not just in one place. (“Banksy.” Par.5). In 2004 Banksy painted a giant rat holding a machine gun at a banned white house. The house was in Bristol on Berry Street as part of Liverpool’s Biennial art program in 2004 (“Banksy.” Par.3). after that Banksy started painting various buildings with his tag. Banksy painting is worth millions at an auction even though he didn’t like he painting was sold. Banksy painted the picture black in white because it shows a vivid color and the house looks banned and the looks really old and the walls are kind of cracked. The reason why the rat is holding the machine gun I think it’s because his protecting the house like if the house was his. Banksy paints like to paint a lot of rat because it’s his tag. The reason why his tag is rats I think it’s because he tags a lot of different places around the world and there are rats all over the world too. On the image he drew the rat has a mad face on it if it was telling people not to get near the house which it’s a reason why his holding the gun. The rat is tall as the house windows and the gun is big as the house door and windows.

Banksy painted another picture in New York City of a rat wearing a suit and holding a brief case in one hand and on the other hand his holding an umbrella, the brief case his holding has a lot of money coming out. The picture looks like it’s painted in a Broadway kind of because there are a lot of people walking. On the painting behind the rat it says “LET THEM EAT CRACK.” What Banksy wanted to say with that image is that hard working people not to bother with the other people that don’t care about life for example hustler, robbers, crack heads. Just do what you got to do and forget them let them do what ever they want. And the shows the rat with a lot of money which mean if you don’t care about people around you that do crack you will be rich and get a lot of money. The Background of the painting is white and the rat is kind of a grayish color to grab people’s attention even though the picture is really big. Members of the public are being asked whether a piece of graffiti attributed to Banksy should stay, and more than 85% have given the “artwork” their backing. The vote was taking place in Sutton, despite the council normally operating a zero tolerance graffiti policy. The council which his responsibility for removing graffiti said to the people to be aware people should hold strong views on the issues because they never know what kind of graffiti can pop up. So the people had till the end of the month to vote. (“Banksy graffiti goes to the vote.” Par.1-2). “In 2008 pest control a group set up to authenticate Banksy’s work, would not verify any of the street pieces because they were removed from their original setting.” (“Banksy works unsold.” Par.1). Rooted in graffiti culture and its attitude towards the world street art is regarded as post graffiti movement. “As a vernacular art form, street art, suck as the work of British artist Banksy deals with activism reclamation and subversion and allows artist a platform to reach a broader audience then traditional art forms.” (Chung. Par.2).

He travels across the global to stimulate political dialogue on social issues by creating sites and specific art, often in combination with stenciling techniques. Banksy pieces viewers to reflect on established social practices, and the power of the art world to define standards. To the government commission public art and street art is illicit and subversive in nature. One of Banksy art work of two policemen kissing each other has been seen in London streets. “The representation of these policemen forces pedestrian to revisit their conceptions of homosexuality and masculinity and to confront the issue of homophobia.” (Chung. Par.8). In societies including America heterosexual couples are often free to show their affection in public while homosexual couples cannot. So the image of the two policemen kissing can be used to concerns and hopefully to develop respect towards differences among human beings. The street art reflects the unedited world in which we live in today (Chung. Par.8-9). By the picture of the two police man kissing is kind of disrespectful for the Britain police because a lot of them mind no be homosexual and by the picture that Banksy drew everyone might think all the cops are in Britain. If I was a police man and lived in Britain I would tell someone to go there and erase the painting. By the painting it doesn’t look like they cops are only kissing but it shows they are actually touching each other and feeling each others body. Banksy painted the picture near a pole near by the corner of the street so it looks like they were hiding from people. What Banksy is trying to show is that the cops in Britain do things behind peoples back.

While Banksy kept the New York guessing about where his next mural or installation may pop up the council in London ordered that one of his works must come down there the BBC reported (“Council votes to remove Banksy Mural In London.” Par.1). Later on Banksy decided to make a film on himself. In the movie he played the roll of a hooded figured always wearing sweater with a hood on his head so people wouldn’t see his face. He had a voice that makes him sound like Kethy Burkey. He explains how he came to meet Guetta and inadvertently helped unleash him on the world as a fully-fledged artist. Guetta has become a huge commercial success despite by his creativity. In the movie Banksy did on himself Guetta was in it and they did spray graffiti’s together in the movie (Tookey. Par. 1-7). Workers removed graffiti’s that could be sold for hundreds or thousands of pounds just like they removed the one from Bristol Museum. “Nathan Wellard and Maeve Neal of England made a good investment when they bought a $2,000 house trailer 11 years ago. They invited a than unknown artist who called himself Banksy to spray-paint a mural on the trailer. Now that they have a family and need more space and now that Banksy is a world famous artist they pair have put the house trailer up for sale they’re asking a cool $1million.” (“What they got for it…a Banksy trailer.” Par.1-2). “Banksy largest and longest running exhibition project to date, was in Bristol city Museum. Thought out the months of preparation and during the 36hours shutdown period during Banksy the self-proclaimed. His crew took over the museum for installation; no one ever caught a simple of the man himself. In true Banksy style though the whole operation was top secret with only a handful of museum staff.” (Weaver. Par.3). One of Banksy painting he did on a wall of a hobo sitting down holding a sign up saying “ I WANT CHANGE” and on the top of the sign it says keep your coins. His wearing a black clothes with a hoodie and the sign is white with blue letters what his trying to show is that people should keep the coins instead of throwing them out because after that it become change instead of coins.

My favorite painting out of all the painting Banksy did was a painting he drew two army guys one of them is holding a gun and looking out and the other one is painting the peace sign on the wall but the cool thing about is that all of this is drawn out on the wall and it looks so real. The army clothes and the gun have so many details. Looks like they two army mans don’t want peace because they are drawing the peace sign the peace sign is really big and it’s the size of the wall and they are painting but at the same time they are looking out if someone is coming. The sign is bold and think red like if it was representing the color of blood, and near the wall with the painting there’s teddy bears someone probably murdered or just died there. So he decided to draw that picture that to represent peace for everyone.
